Dr. Nima Ghahremani Nezhad is a Molecular Biologist and Protein Engineer specializing in enzyme design, molecular dynamics simulations, and biocatalyst improvement. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), where his research focused on the in silico modification and in vitro validation of novel functional histidine acid phosphatases for poultry feed applications. Dr. Nezhad has extensive expertise spanning wet-lab experimental biology—including cloning, protein expression, purification, biochemical assays, and biophysical characterization—and in silico computational approaches, such as protein structure prediction, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and rational enzyme engineering. His skill set includes the use of advanced tools such as GROMACS, YASARA, PyMOL, AlphaFold, SWISS-MODEL, HADDOCK, and AutoDock Vina. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in enzymology, biotechnology, computational biology, protein engineering, and microbial biocatalysts, contributing significantly to areas such as thermostability engineering, phytase and lipase characterization, PETase improvement, and structural bioinformatics. His work also includes the deposition of a novel histidine acid phosphatase gene variant in NCBI. Throughout his career, Dr. Nezhad has served as an editorial board member for the Research Reports in Molecular Biology journal and as a reviewer for multiple high-impact journals, including Microbial Cell Factories, Biotechnology Letters, International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, and AMB Express. He has received recognitions such as the Al-Biruni Academic Award from UPM’s Enzyme and Microbial Technology Research Center.
