   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Wan Hamidon ialah seorang profesor di Jabatan Kejuruteraan Awam, Fakutli Kejuruteraan dan Alam Bina, UKM. Beliau mempunyai pengalaman yang luas dalam bidang pengajaran, penyelidikan, perundingan, pentadbiran serta khidmat masyarakat. Kepakaran beliau adalah dalam bidang Kejuruteraan Struktur. Beliau juga merupakan seorang Jurutera Profesional dengan Amalan (PEPC) yang berdaftar dengan Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia. Beliau merupakan pakar rujuk dan penasihat kepada beberapa buah IPTS, industri dan agensi kerajaan, mantan Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan & Alam Bina UKM (2021 - 2022); mantan Pengarah Jabatan Akreditasi Kejuruteraan, Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia (2014 - 2016); dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, syarikat UKM Perunding Kejuruteraan & Arkitek Sdn. Bhd. Beliau telah mengetuai Jawatankuasa Kerja dalam membangunkan Manual Akreditasi Program Kejuruteraan bagi Majlis Akreditasi Kejuruteraan (EAC), Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia yang berasaskan ‘Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) yang telah dilancarkan dalam tahun 2006, serta menyumbang kepada reka bentuk dan penilaian kurikulum untuk sistem Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif bersepadu (iCGPA) di UKM. Beliau juga telah dilantik menjadi Mentor bagi Washington Accord bagi Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), Bangladesh.
    Prof. Wan is a Professor of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, UKM. He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC) registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2021 - 2022); Chairman of the Malaysian Council for Engineering Deans (MCED) (2021 - 2022); Director of the UKM Development and Maintenance Department (2019 - 2021); and Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department, Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) (2014 – 2016). Currently, Prof. Wan is a member of the BEM’s Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). He is currently one of the Washington Accord mentors for the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), Bangladesh. He has been appointed to various positions and committees under the BEM that has helped uphold and enhance the high standard of engineering and technology education in Malaysia. He has played a significant role in facilitating the transformation of engineering education in Malaysia. He was the Chairman of the Working Group that drafted the first-ever Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)’s Manual for Accreditation of Engineering Programmes based on OBE launched in 2006. He was heavily involved in the processes that made Malaysia accepted as a full signatory of the Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accords. His research niche is in the Structural Engineering field. He has patented an Industrialised Building System (IBS) known as the ‘Profiled Steel Sheeting Dry Board (PSSDB) System’ and has published more than 300 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He has won various research products awards: Winner of the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Construction Innovation and Design Award (2001); Gold Medal for 26th International Exhibition of Inventions, Geneva, Switzerland (1998); Malaysian National Inventor’s Award, MOSTE (1998); and Gold Medal for
