Prof Dr Zahira Yaakob adalah pensyarah di Jabatan Kejuruteraan Kimia dan Proses Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Beliau mendapat Ijazah Kejuruteraan Kimia dari University of Toledo Ohio, USA pada 1988. Seterusnya, beliau berjaya melanjutkan pelajaran di peringkat Master dan PhD dalam bidang kejuruteraan kimia dari University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK pada tahun 1992 dan 1995. Di fakulti, beliau sangat aktif dalam pengajaran, penyeliaan pelajar MSc dan PhD, serta penyelidikan dan penerbitan. Sehingga kini beliau telah menerbitkan lebih dari 250 makalah dalam jurnal terindex dengan H-index 38. Penulisan beliau telah dirujuk dan disebut dalam lebih 5000 makalah ilmiah yang lain.
