Biografi/ Biography :
Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Toriman, is a Professor on Environmental Hydrology and River Water Quality Modelling, Research Centre for Social, Development & Environment, UKM. He jointed UKM in 1994 and previously is a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation Affairs) at University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and UKM. He received his first degree (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, M.Sc from Manchester University, UK and Ph.D from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. Currently, he has published more than 150 journal papers indexed by WoS and SCOPUS/ERA, 75 books and chapter in book and 135 proceedings in national and international conferences. His publications are on urban river modelling, flooding and floodplain analyses, environmental sustainability and water quality modelling. In 2011-2015, he has appointed as a Visiting Scientist and Visiting Professor from Kyoto University, Mahidol University and University Hassanuddin, Indonesia. He also a former Chairman of UKM Technology Sdn Bhd, UniSZA Consultation Sdn Bhd and a Committee member of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Tokyo. Since 2010, he has involved as a principle researcher and consultation works more than 53 research grants and 105 consultation works in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia including major projects by UNESCO, PETRONAS, ECER, TNB, LLM, Forest City Johor, ISKANDAR Malaysia and Government agencies. He has taught courses related to hydrology, geomorphology, environmental modelling and water resources. To date, he has supervised and examined more than 53 PhD theses, 78 MS theses and more than 154 Bachelor degree.
