   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Ahmad Fariz Mohamed memulakan karier sebagai Pegawai Sains di Institut Penyelidikan Kelapa Sawit Malaysia (PORIM) selepas mendapat ijazah Sarjana Muda Sains dalam bidang Ekologi daripada Universiti Malaya pada tahun 1994. Kemudian menjadi Pegawai Sains di Institut Alam Sekitar dan Pembangunan (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia bermula November 1994. Julai 1996 hingga Oktober 1997 dilantik sebagai Tutor dan kemudian melanjutkan pelajaran ke United Kingdom dan memperolehi Ijazah Sarjana, MSc in Environmental Science daripada University of East Anglia, England pada tahun 1997. Kemudian dilantik sebagai Pensyarah pada November 1997. Dianugerahkan ijazah PhD dalam bidang Sistem Pengurusan Alam Sekitar (EMS) dengan mengkhusus kepada Pengurusan Alam Sekitar dan Pengurusan Sisa daripada Universiti Putra Malaysia pada tahun 2007. Mempunyai pengalaman penyelidikan dan pengajaran untuk tempoh 25 tahun didalam bidang sistem pengurusan kelestarian, pengurusan sisa, metabolisme bandar untuk kelestarian bandar dengan menggunakan Pentaksiran Kitar Hayat (Life Cycle Assessment) sebagai alat penyelidikan. Bidang ini merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha untuk pembangunan ilmu untuk menyokong pembangunan dan aplikasi ilmu dan konsep dayahuni bandar dan kelestarian di Malaysia. Juga melibatkan diri dalam penyelidikan dan diseminasi ilmu untuk dasar alam sekitar, pembangunan industri dan penilaian proses pembandaran dengan fokus kepada isu-isu dasar, perancangan dan proses membuat keputusan. Serta juga dalam aspek taburan perindustrian dan proses pembandaran serta impaknya kepada alam sekitar dan kesihatan manusia. Minat lain juga merangkumi bidang teknologi bersih, penggunaan dan pengeluaran lestari (SCP). Kini memegang jawatan sebagai Profesor dan Felo Utama di Institut Alam Sekitar dan Pembangunan (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
    Ahmad Fariz Mohamed start his career as Science Officer at the Palm Oil Research Institute Malaysia (PORIM) after graduated with Bachelor of Science in Ecology from University of Malaya in August 1994. He then moves to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and appointed as Science Officer at the Institute for The Environment and Development (LESTARI) from November 1994. From July 1996 to October 1997, he was appointed as a Tutor, and went to University of East Anglia, Norwich United Kingdom for his master degree, MSc in Environmental Science from 1996 to 1997. He was conferred with Doctor of Philosophy degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia, specializing in Environmental Management System and Waste Management, in year 2007. For more than 25 years, he has a vast experience in research and teaching in the field of Sustainability Management System, Waste Management, Urban Metabolism for Urban Sustainability with the application of the Life Cycle Assessment as research tool. These fields are key components for knowledge development in supporting the concept and knowledge development and application for Urban Livability and Sustainability in Malaysia. Active participating in research and knowledge dissemination activities for environmental policy, industrial development and urban process evaluation focusing on policy, planning and decision-making process issues. In addition, the distribution of industries and urbanization process impact on the environment and human health were the focus of research interest. Also have an interest in the field of Clean Technology, Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). Currently hold a position as Professor and Principal Fellow at the Institute for The Environment and Development, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
