Biografi/ Biography :
Associate Professor Dr. Haliza Abdul Mutalib is from Taiping, Perak, she is attached to Community Health Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia since year 2000. She specializes in Contact Lenses & Corneal Morphology. Her current research interests are on morphological changes in contact lens wear, observation of physiological corneal cell changes using confocal microscopy, therapeutic and specialty contact lenses and cleaning regime effect to ocular status and other topics related to contact lenses. She obtained her BOptom (Hons) in 1993 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She was conferred MSc in Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences (1997) and a PhD (Optometry) from UMIST, United Kingdom in 2000. She managed to complete her PhD in 23 months and was awarded with VDC Peter Abel Award (Germany) for Best Thesis in Contact Lens Research. Till date, Dr Haliza has a total of more than 40 publications. She is appointed as consultant in various contact lens industries, college & university programs, and national associations. She has produced KEJORA eyelid cleanser after many years of Virgin Coconut Oil research. She is also actively involved as the coordinator for Klinik Optometri Bergerak UKM which handles community eye screening all over Malaysia which has won her a community award in 2014. Dr. Haliza has successfully supervised 5 PhD and 10 MSc and 60 undergraduate research (2019). She is also the owner to 2 IPs and a co-owner to 1 IP. At present she held the responsibility as Head of Doctorate Program for Faculty of Health Sciences (2020-2023).
