   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Shanthini Pillai (PhD) merupakan Profesor Madya di Fakulti Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Minat penyelidikannya bertumpu terutamanya dalam kepelbagaian etnik, diaspora dan transnasionalisme dalam teks sastera dan budaya dengan rujukan khusus kepada diaspora Asia Selatan global. Tumpuan penyelidikan yang terkini adalah kesedaran budaya orang India dan Cina diaspora Katolik di Malaysia. Beliau telah mengetuai beberapa projek penyelidikan mengenai transnasionalisme dan identiti budaya dan juga telah mengambil bahagian dalam projek penyelidikan transnasional.     Shanthini Pillai (PhD) is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Malaysia (UKM). Her research interests are anchored primarily in ethnic diversity, diaspora and transnationalism in literary and cultural texts with particular reference to the global South Asian diaspora. An emergent interest is in the cultural consciousness of Catholic diasporic Indians and Chinese in Malaysia. She has headed a number of research projects on transnationalism and cultural identity and has also participated in transnational research projects.
