   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Chin Kok Fay is senior lecturer in the Strategic Studies and International Relations Programme, and former coordinator of the MSc. (East Asian Studies) programme, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Malaysia. He is associate editor of Nusantara: An International Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences and Malaysian Journal of History, Politics and Strategy. After acquiring his B.A. in Economics and Master of Economics from University of Malaya, he went on to obtain post-graduate training in heterodox economics in Cambridge University’s Advanced Programme on Rethinking Development Economics. He received his PhD in International Political Economy from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He was Fellow of the 483rd Session of the Salzburg Global Seminar on Economic Growth and Social Protection in Asia, Austria and 2013 Young Scholar, the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan, Germany. He has written many chapters in books as well as refereed journal articles on international political economy of regionalism, finance and development, financial crisis and national security. His consultancy work includes working on a country study on Malaysia’s experience in managing external debt from early 1980s-mid-2000s for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development project on Capacity Building for Debt Sustainability in Developing Countries. Lately his teaching, supervision and research focus has expanded to include other non-traditional security issues especially food, health and environmental security. Currently he is working on several research projects related to food and water security in Southeast Asia.
