   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Chairozila Mohd Shamsuddin adalah seorang Guru Bahasa Inggeris, dengan Pusat Pengajian Citra Universiti (PPCU), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Beliau memperolehi PhD pada 2017. Minat penyelidikannya termasuk kajian jantina, serta kajian dalam pembelajaran bahasa, linguistik dan pendekatan semiotik sosial. Dia telah mengkaji imej buku teks untuk menganalisis imej jantina lelaki dan perempuan yang melakukan tugas dan aktiviti interaksi yang berbeza dalam pekerjaan. Dalam kajian ini, beliau menganalisis perspektif jantina menggunakan teori semiotik sosial melalui pengikatan makna kepada imej jantina. Analisis dalam imej buku teks berpunca daripada lebih 20 tahun beliau mengajar ESL. Beliau juga telah berkhidmat dengan UKM sejak 1997 dan telah mengajar bahasa Inggeris sebagai bahasa kedua kepada mahasiswa dari pelbagai fakulti, daripada pendekatan ESP hingga EOP. Beliau telah membangunkan kursus yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecekapan pelajar dalam bahasa Inggeris seperti dalam komunikasi akademik, penulisan kreatif dan komunikasi di tempat kerja.
    Chairozila Mohd Shamsuddin is a senior English language teacher, attached with Pusat Pengajian Citra Universiti (PPCU), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained her PhD in 2017. Her research interests include gender studies, as well as studies in approaches to language learning, linguistics and social semiotics. She has studied textbook images for analyzing images of male and female genders performing different interactional tasks and activities in occupations. In this study, she analyzed gender perspectives using social semiotic theory through tying meaning to gendered images. The analysis in textbook images stems from her more than 20 years of ESL teaching. She has also been with UKM since 1997 and has been teaching English as a second language to undergraduates from various faculties, from ESP to EOP approaches. She has developed courses that aim to increase students’ competencies in English such as in academic communication, creative writing and workplace communication.
