Teknologi Digital dan Terkehadapan,
As a Professor and former Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information Science and Technology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), as well as the former Chairperson of the Research Center for Cyber Security, I have always envisioned transforming our faculty’s research into practical, community-friendly solutions. My goal is to ensure that these innovations benefit society by promoting a secure cyberspace, driving socio-economic growth, and enhancing service productivity. My journey began with a computing degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, where I learned the importance of embracing digital technologies inspired by Alan Turing’s pioneering work. This foundation, combined with my exploration of Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, and Image Processing during my Master’s and PhD studies at UKM and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, fueled my passion to enrich digital products and skills for the community—creating opportunities for prosperity and societal well-being. Beyond research, I am committed to producing quality graduates through teaching, mentoring, and publishing. To date, I have authored more than 100 refereed publications, including journals, conference proceedings, and books. After completing my studies in the UK, I received offers from three leading Malaysian universities and chose UKM for its strong integration of faith and knowledge, and its emphasis on blending theory with practice to advance education and societal development. Throughout my career, I have actively contributed to national and international initiatives, serving as Chairperson of Security Academia Malaysia (CSAM) and collaborating with organizations such as FIRA, Asian Foundation, IMWU, DFRS, MIAMI, MACE, and IDB Alumni. My research focuses on Pattern Recognition, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. I have published six books—Pattern Recognition, Computational Intelligence in Data Science Applications, Smart Prediction of Suspect’s Serial Crime Location, Optical Script Reader:
Sebagai Profesor dan bekas Timbalan Dekan Fakulti Teknologi dan Sains Maklumat di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), serta bekas Pengerusi Pusat Penyelidikan Keselamatan Siber, saya sentiasa beriltizam untuk menterjemahkan hasil penyelidikan fakulti kepada penyelesaian praktikal yang mesra komuniti. Matlamat saya adalah untuk memastikan inovasi ini memberi manfaat kepada masyarakat melalui usaha memperkukuh keselamatan siber, merangsang pertumbuhan sosioekonomi dan meningkatkan produktiviti perkhidmatan. Perjalanan akademik saya bermula dengan ijazah dalam bidang Pengkomputeran dari University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, di mana saya mempelajari kepentingan mengadaptasi teknologi digital yang diinspirasikan oleh hasil perintis Alan Turing. Asas ini, digabungkan dengan pengajian saya dalam bidang Kecerdasan Buatan, Perlombongan Data dan Pemprosesan Imej pada peringkat Sarjana dan Doktor Falsafah di UKM serta Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, telah menyemarakkan minat saya untuk memperkaya produk dan kemahiran digital dalam kalangan masyarakat, sekali gus mewujudkan peluang ke arah kesejahteraan dan kemakmuran sosial. Selain daripada aktiviti penyelidikan, saya komited dalam melahirkan graduan berkualiti melalui pengajaran, bimbingan dan penerbitan ilmiah. Sehingga kini, saya telah menghasilkan lebih daripada 100 penerbitan berwasit termasuk artikel jurnal, prosiding persidangan dan buku. Selepas menamatkan pengajian di United Kingdom, saya menerima tawaran daripada tiga universiti terkemuka di Malaysia dan memilih UKM kerana pendekatannya yang menitikberatkan integrasi ilmu dan keimanan serta penekanan terhadap penggabungan teori dan amali dalam usaha memartabatkan pendidikan dan pembangunan masyarakat. Sepanjang kerjaya saya, saya turut aktif menyumbang di peringkat kebangsaan dan antarabangsa dengan berkhidmat sebagai Pengerusi Security Academia Malaysia (CSAM) serta menjalin kerjasama dengan pelbagai organisasi seperti FIRA, Asian Foundation, IMWU, DFRS, MIAMI, MACE dan Alumni Bank Pe
