Ismail Saiboon, MBBS (UM) 1994; M.Surg (Orth& Trauma) (UKM) 2003, and subspecialized Emergency Medicine 2004 (UKM). Attend Simulation Preceptorship program at WISER, University of Pittsburgh USA (2011) and obtained Certification for Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) qualification from SSH USA in 2015.
He is the first Professor in Emergency Medicine in Malaysia and first Malaysian to obtained CHSE certification. Founder of the Malaysian College of Emergency Physicians (CEP AMM). Initiate several Emergency Medicine training program i.e. Doctor in Emergency Medicine (UKM), BSc in Emergency Medicine (UKM) for paramedic.
Key research areas are in Emergency Medicine, Pre-hospital care and Healthcare Simulation. Has published extensively in these areas and authored several books including chapters in a book. Has won several innovation awards both locally and internationally i.e. ITEX, MTE, K-novasi and the latest being the national AKRI 2018 awards for the most innovative teaching-learning approach.
Currently as the American Heart Association (AHA)’s Training Center Coordinator (TCC) and Training Center Faculty for ACLS & ACLS EP; Chairman of the Malaysian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (MaSSH), board member of the Pan Asian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (PASSH), Chairman of the Simulation SIG of CEP and member to Society for Simulation in Healthcare( SSH, USA).
He was the formerly Deputy Dean and Deputy Director of PPUKM, head of Emergency Department UKM and Chairman of National Conjoint Committee in Emergency Medicine. At leisure, he likes to innovate, cycle, swim and travel.
