  •    Biografi/ Biography :

  • I first joined the Department of Pharmacology as a tutor in November 1998. Before that, I graduated from UKM in Biomedical Sciences (B.Biomed.Sci.) with a First Class Honours degree in 1997. Subsequently, I was given a study leave by UKM to do my Masters and PhD. I obtained a Masters in Medical Science (Pharmacology) [M.Med.Sci.(Pharmacol)] from UKM in 2002, and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, in 2007. I returned to UKM as a full-fledged lecturer in October 2007. My research interest lies primarily in the area of molecular pharmacology of natural products, especially the chemopreventive effects of natural products on the liver. I am interested to know how natural products could affect the gene and protein expression of various drug metabolising enzymes in the liver (and elsewhere). In doing so, we could potentially screen which natural products have chemopreventive actions in the liver (or elsewhere for that matter). The natural products that I am most interested in are Palm Oil Tocotrienols, Ulam Raja (Cosmos caudatus) and Daun Kesom (Polygonum minus).
