Biografi/ Biography :
Dr. Hamidah Alias is a Professor of Paediatrics and Senior Consultant Paediatric Haemato-Oncologist at the Department of Paediatrics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre(UKMMC), Kuala Lumpur and presently the Head of Unit. She received her masters in paediatrics in 2000 from the UKM. She completed her training in paediatric haematology and oncology at University Children’s Hospital, Zurich and Sir James Spence Institute of Child Health, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne, England between 2002 and 2004. Dr Hamidah is board certified in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Haematology and Oncology by the National Specialist Registration, Malaysia and currently a member of the Specialty sub-committee for national credentialing in paediatric haemato-oncology. She is an accredited trainer in paediatric haemato-oncology in Malaysia. She is also a principal fellow with UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI). Her research interests focus on clinical, therapeutic and molecular childhood malignancies, especially leukaemias and haematological condition, thalassaemia. Her international research collaboration includes the St. Jude Children`s Research Hospital, USA, the Netherlands, UK, Japan and Australia. She has published over 80 papers in local and international peer-reviewed journals. Dr Hamidah is a panel member of research grant peer reviewers at the University and Ministry of Higher Education levels. She has also served as a reviewer for medical journals Pediatric Blood Cancer, Molecular Carcinogenesis, Journal of Blood Medicine, Tropical Medicine & International Health, Malaysian Journal of Medical Sciences, and Iranian Journal of Pediatrics. Dr Hamidah is the past President of the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology 2019/2021, and Medical Advisor to a non-governmental organisation, Cancer Associates and Kindred Network(CAKNE) a support group for childhood cancer patients in UKMMC.
