Makmal kami menyelidik kesan pelbagai sebatian psikoaktif dan fitokimia pada fungsi otak. Kajian makmal ditumpukan pada menggunakan pendekatan pelbagai seperti ujian tingkah laku haiwan dan ujian in vitro untuk mendedahkan pandangan kritikal kepada tiga bidang asas: Penilaian Ketoksikan dan Perlindungan Saraf; Mekanisme Neurotoksisiti dan Perlindungan Saraf; Kesan Kognitif, Tingkah Laku Pengukuhan Positif dan Tingkah Laku Penarikan.
Tumpuan utama penyelidikan kami ialah pada bidang produk semula jadi yang berasal daripada tumbuhan, yang mempunyai potensi dalam mencegah kemerosotan saraf. Kami menyelidiki secara mendalam mekanisme sebatian ini dalam memberikan perlindungan saraf, dengan mengambil kira potensinya sebagai suplemen untuk mengekalkan kesihatan otak secara keseluruhan.
Sebagai tindak balas kepada cabaran yang timbul akibat percambahan Bahan Psikoaktif Baharu (NPS), usaha penyelidikan kami telah berkembang untuk merangkumi kajian sebatian sintetik ini. Melalui ujian tingkah laku haiwan yang komprehensif, kesan buruk NPS pada sistem saraf pusat dan potensi risikonya kepada kesihatan manusia akan diselidik.
Melalui pendekatan interdisiplin dan komitmen kami kepada kajian saintifik, pemahaman tentang fungsi otak akan dikembangkan bagi menyumbang kepada pembangunan strategi untuk melindungi kesihatan otak dalam menghadapi cabaran berkaitan kesihatan manusia sejagat.
In our laboratory, we are deeply engaged in cutting-edge research that delves into the intricate effects of various psychoactive and phytochemical compounds on brain functions. Our focus lies in employing a multifaceted approach, utilizing animal behavioral tests and in vitro assays, to uncover critical insights into three fundamental areas: Neurotoxicity and Neuroprotection Assessment, Mechanisms of Neurotoxicity and Neuroprotection; Cognitive Effects, Positive Reinforcement and Withdrawing Behaviour.
A primary focus of our investigations lies in the realm of plant-derived natural products, which hold immense promise in preventing neurodegeneration. We delve deep into the mechanisms through which these compounds confer neuroprotection, with an eye toward their potential as supplements for promoting overall brain wellness.
In response to the emerging challenge posed by the proliferation of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), our research endeavours have expanded to encompass the study of these synthetic compounds. Through a comprehensive battery of animal behavioural tests, we seek to elucidate the profound effects of NPS on the central nervous system, striving to unveil the potential health risks they pose to human well-being.
Through our interdisciplinary approach and unwavering commitment to scientific inquiry, we aim to advance our understanding of brain function and contribute to the development of strategies for safeguarding neurological health in the face of evolving challenges.
