   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Born in Johor Bahru, Afida Ayob has always been constantly reminded not to waste any resources so there would be enough for each of her seven family members, in particular food and electricity. And the practice has sparked her interest in energy savings and conservation. After graduating with a BEng (Electrical and Electronics) from the University of Manchester, UK in 2000, she continued with a PhD (Power Electronics) from the Newcastle University, UK in 2011. Currently she is working as a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Electrical, Electronics and Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, The National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). Apart from energy and energy management related research, she is also involved in Power Engineering and Engineering Education. She is a Certified Energy Manager under the ASEAN Energy Centre and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager with the Energy Commission. Her life motto of giving more than 100% in everything she does, lead her to being awarded the Excellent Service Award in 2018 and Best Paper Awards in several international conferences. Her long-term goal is to contribute actively in organisation for the promotion of energy savings and conservation towards a low-carbon society and sustainability for future generations. Other than academic activities, she is also active in promoting engineering among school children. When not busy with research and teaching, she spends her time gardening and trying new recipes from her recipe books collection.
