Biografi/ Biography :
Minat saya yang mendalam sebagai seorang pengajar bermula semasa saya berpeluang untuk menjadi guru sementara di sebuah sekolah rendah di Pulau Pinang. Seterusnya saya menjadi seorang tutor Biologi di Pusat Asasi Sains dan Biokimia di Fakulti Sains Universiti Malaya. Kemudian, saya menjadi seorang pensyarah di Fakulti Pergigian, UKM sehingga kini. Saya pernah menjadi penyelaras untuk kursus praklinikal seperti Biokimia dan sebagai pensyarah di dalam kursus Biokimia, Imunologi, Metodologi Penyelidikan dan Sains Perubatan dan Pergigian Gunaan. Minat yang mendalam dalam penyelidikan mula dipupuk sejak saya di bangku sekolah menengah di mana saya mula melakukan eksperimen sains terutamanya dalam subjek Biologi dan Kimia. Saya kemudiannya menjadi seorang pembantu penyelidik serta-merta selepas saya menamatkan pengajian ijazah sarjana muda saya di Universiti Malaya. Saya berpeluang bekerja sebagai pengurus makmal di dua buah universiti terkemuka di luar negara, iaitu di Imperial College London dan University of York, UK. Walaupun PhD saya telah dijalankan di Malaysia tetapi saya mempunyai peluang dan pengalaman membuat sangkutan penyelidikan di University of Birmingham dan University of New Castle, UK. Saya juga pernah melakukan sangkutan penyelidikan di Monash University Malaysia. Minat penyelidikan semasa saya adalah patogenesis kanser mulut, BRONJ(Bisphosphonate related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw) dan penyelidikan biokimia klinikal. Saya juga telah bekerjasama dengan rakan-rakan doktor pergigian di Fakulti saya dalam beberapa bidang penyelidikan pergigian dengan mengaplikasikan pengalaman dan kemahiran makmal saya yang berkaitan dengan latihan saya sebagai ahli biokimia. Saya telah melakukan kajian berkaitan bidang biologi molekul, kultur tisu, lipidomik (LCMSMS) dan proteomik. Pengalaman pentadbiran saya termasuklah, sebagai ketua Jabatan selama dua penggal. Dari sini, saya telah menguruskan sekitar RM2 juta dalam pengubahsuaian makmal dan menyelaraskan perancangan dua program baharu di fakulti saya. Saya telah meme
My passion for teaching started when I was a temporary teacher in a primary school in Penang. I became a tutor in Biology at the Pusat Asasi Sains and in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science University of Malaya. Later, I became a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, UKM until now. I’ve been a coordinator for a preclinical course such as Biochemistry and as a lecturer in Biochemistry, Immunology, Research Methodology and Applied Medical and Dental Sciences. My passion for research started when I was in secondary school where we started doing the experiments especially in Biology and Chemistry. I became a research assistant immedately after I graduated from my undergraduate degree. Later I had the opportunity to work as a lab manager at two oversea universities, Imperial College London and University of York, UK. Eventhough my PhD was done locally here in Malaysia but I’ve have the opportunity and experience doing research attachments at University of Birmingham and University of New Castle, UK. My current reseach interest includes pathogenesis of oral cancer, BRONJ(Bisphosphonate related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw) and clinical biochemistry research. I’ve also collaborated with dental clinicians in several dental research areas with my experiences and laboratory skills related to my training as a biochemist. I have done reseach related to molecular biology, tissue culture, lipidomics (LCMSMS) and proteomics work. My administrative experiences includes, as head of Department for two terms. From here, I’ve managed around RM2million worth of laboratory renovations and coordinated the planning of two new programs in my faculty. I’ve won awards in research as a group from UKM (2009), Pengajar Cemerlang (2011), Perkhidmatan cemerlang (2008, 2020). I have also received gold and silver medals in research innovations locally and internationally (2022 & 2023).
