Dr Lim Choun Sian ialah penyelidik geobencana dan bencana alam di Pusat Kajian Bencana Asia Tenggara (SEADPRI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Bidang kepakarannya merangkumi bahaya tanah runtuh dan kestabilan cerun di kawasan tropika, serta risiko berkaitan gempa bumi dan banjir yang menjejaskan komuniti rentan di Malaysia dan rantau Asia Tenggara. Beliau aktif dalam pengurangan risiko bencana, amaran awal dan komunikasi risiko, serta sering menyumbang pandangan pakar mengenai tanah runtuh, gempa bumi dan banjir melalui penerbitan saintifik, syarahan teknikal dan libat urus awam.
Dr Lim Choun Sian is a geohazards and disasters researcher at the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Initiative (SEADPRI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His work focuses on landslide hazard and slope stability in tropical terrain, as well as earthquake‑ and flood‑related risks that affect vulnerable communities in Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region. He is actively involved in disaster risk reduction, early warning and risk communication, frequently contributing expert insights on landslides, earthquakes and floods through scientific publications, technical talks and public outreach. Dr Lim Choun Sian also serves the wider geoscience community through roles linked to the Geological Society of Malaysia and regional disaster risk reduction networks.
