   Biografi/ Biography :

  • SALMAH YAAKOP, PhD., is an Assoc. Prof. at Department of Biological Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UKM. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science degree from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and Ph.D. degree from State University of Groningen, The Netherlands in Evolutionary Biology. Her expertise is on Molecular Systematics and Taxonomy and Diversity of insect species. She is a very active entomologist in conducting DNA barcoding research, species interaction and coevolution, and systematics and taxonomy of insects especially on pests and parasitoids of Malaysian crops, storage products etc. Not limited to insects only, she also working on molecular systematics of wildlife species for conservation purposes. Currently, she also conducts research on impact of climate change on insect species. She is an Editor of Serangga Journal (indexed in Scopus) (2018-2021) and also President of Entomological Society of Malaysia (ENTOMA) for 2019-2020.
