  •    Biografi/ Biography :

  • SYAMSA RIZAL ABDULLAH, PhD adalah Pensyarah Kanan di Jabatan Parasitologi & Entomologi Perubatan, Fakulti Perubatan UKM. Beliau telah berkhidmat selama 20 tahun di UKM sebagai tenaga akademik dengan bermula sebagai tutor pada tahun 2004. Beliau sebelum ini memegang jawatan Ketua Jabatan Parasitologi & Entomologi Perubatan dari 12 Oktober 2020 hingga 31 Disember 2024. Kini beliau adalah Penolong Dekan (Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni) di Fakulti Perubatan UKM bermula 1 Januari 2025. Bidang kepakaran beliau adalah dalam bidang entomologi forensik dan entomologi perubatan. Beliau telah menerbit dalam lebih 40 penerbitan yang terdiri daripada artikel jurnal, laporan saintifik, bab dalam buku dan penerbitan popular. Beliau kerap kali berkongsi kepakaran dalam bidang entomologi menerusi media arus perdana seperti Utusan Malaysia dan Harian Metro serta dalam majalah ilmiah seperti Dewan Kosmik terbitan Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka. Beliau turut aktif menyertai pembentangan penyelidikan di peringkat kebangsaan dan antarabangsa dan berjaya beroleh anugerah dalam beberapa persidangan. Dalam aspek pengajaran, beliau pernah dianugerahkan sebagai Pengajar Muda Cemerlang (Kategori Praklinikal) Fakulti Perubatan UKM bagi tahun 2021 dan terlibat sebagai ahli pasukan yang dianugerahkan pingat perak dalam EduInnovation 2020.
    SYAMSA RIZAL ABDULLAH, PhD is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Parasitology & Medical Entomology, UKM Faculty of Medicine. He has served for 20 years at UKM as an academic, starting as a tutor in 2004. He previously held the position of Head of the Department of Parasitology & Medical Entomology from 12 October 2020 to 31 December 2024. Now he is the Assistant Dean (Student Affairs & Alumni) of the UKM Faculty of Medicine starting 1 January 2025. His areas of expertise are in forensic entomology and medical entomology. He has published in over 40 publications consisting of journal articles, scientific reports, book chapters and popular publications. He often shares his expertise in the field of entomology through mainstream media such as Utusan Malaysia and Harian Metro, as well as in scientific magazine such as Dewan Kosmik published by Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka. He also actively participated in research presentations at the national and international level and successfully won awards in several conferences. In terms of teaching, he has been awarded as the Outstanding Junior Lecturer (Preclinical Category) of the UKM Faculty of Medicine for the year 2021 and was involved as a member of the team that was awarded a silver medal in EduInnovation 2020.
