Biografi/ Biography :
Associate Prof Dr Nirmala Chandralega Kampan is a Consultant in O&G and a Gyaneoncologist. She did her undergraduate medical studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Kuala Lumpur. Following her internship in Ministry of Health hospitals, she joined Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2004 as a Trainee Lecturer. While working in UKM, she received a two-year Double Sponsorship Award, allowing her to work in the United Kingdom and pursue MRCOG examination, which was successfully accomplished in 2008. She then went on to complete her Masters in O&G in UKM a year later, and thereafter served in UKM as a Lecturer. She also successful completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynaecology. Her various role encompasses undergraduate and postgraduate student’s teaching, while also being actively involved in clinical services and research activities. She has successfully published up to 50 articles concerning women’s health in various medical journal, magazines and books. Having seen how poor the outcomes were for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Malaysia, Dr Nirmala decided to pursue her clinical fellowship training in gynae-oncology at Royal Women Hospital, Melbourne Australia, followed by PhD in Medicine at Monash University, Australia. Returning back to UKM in 2017, she is passionate about optimising the gynaecology services both clinically and in terms of research in order to provide the best outcomes for our women.
