Nurul Izzaty Hassan has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of St Andrews, Scotland. She currently serves as an associate professor of organic chemistry at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her work focuses specifically on the synthesis of hybrid molecules and their applications as antimalarial and anticholinesterase agents. Her field of research also includes the development of point-of-care diagnostic biosensors. She is a member of the editorial board of the Malaysian Journal of Chemistry and an associate editor of the Malaysian Journal of Analytical Science. She also serves as an active member for Malaysian institute of Chemistry
