   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Dr. Akmal, a distinguished academician and research scientist, holds a prominent position as a senior lecturer and researcher at the esteemed Department of Biochemistry within the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. With a specialization in medical genetics and extensive proficiency in molecular genetic techniques, Dr. Akmal is committed to unraveling genetic biomarkers associated with various diseases. Through her research, she aspires to foster collaborations with clinical partners to bridge the gap between fundamental scientific discoveries and their translation into improved healthcare practices, thereby advancing the field of precision/personalized medicine. In addition to her pivotal role as the head of the Human Genetic Module, Dr. Akmal has acquired comprehensive expertise as a medical educationist. Her inclination toward teaching and learning innovations led her to complete a Master`s degree in Medical Education at UKM. As a fervent advocate of Active Learning, she actively incorporates contemporary methodologies to foster engaging and interactive learning experiences among medical students. Particularly, her research interests lie in the domains of team-based learning and Objective Structured Practical Examinations (OSPE), where she strives to replace traditional lecture-based sessions and practicals with more dynamic and immersive educational approaches. Dr. Akmal`s remarkable achievements and multifaceted expertise underscore her commitment to both scientific research and medical education. Her notable contributions exemplify her dedication to advancing knowledge, transforming healthcare practices, and nurturing the next generation of medical professionals.
