Pensyarah berpengalaman dengan gabungan kecerdasan buatan, pembelajaran mesin, strategi algoritma dan penyelesaian masalah. Dianugerahkan Ijazah Sarjanamuda dan Sarjana dalam bidang teknologi maklumat dari Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Beliau kemudiannya menyambung pengajian ke peringkat Ijazah Kedoktorran (komputeran) di University of Leeds, UK dengan kerjasama dari St James`s Hospital untuk salah satu projek patologi digital. Projek penyelidikan sedia ada termasuklah dari jabatan oftalmology, O&G, Pathology dan Ortopedik. Projek penyelidikan lain termasuk pengecaman dan pengelasan kenderaan, anai-anai, riang-riang , penyakit tumbuhan dan jerebu dari data teks, bunyi, imej dan jujukan data.
Afzan Adam is a senior lecturer in the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Technology, Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is also a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologist, as well as the Digital Pathology Association. Her research interest mainly in digital pathology, while applying her machine learning and image processing skills on other domain as well. Completed her PhD in Computing at the University of Leeds (UK) on grading dysplasia on virtual slides, she is first in this field who came back to Malaysia and initiates the idea of gathering the Digital Pathology Society in Malaysia. Her projects include diagnosing cancers from histopathology images, to communication portals between pathologists as well as mobile apps development for the clinical routine task.
