Dr Mohd Harimi Abd Rahman is currently an academician (senior lecturer), clinician and a researcher for UKM. He is currently holding the position of Head of Industry and Community Partnerships of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FSK). Dr Harimi received his Bachelor of Optometry degree from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). After completing B.Optom (Hons) in 2007, he was employed as an Optometrist with Focus Point Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur before joining UKM as a Tutor in 2008. He obtained PhD. in Optometry (Low Vision) from UKM in 2017. He has been involved in Optometric education, for undergraduate and postgraduate programs for more than 10 years. He is a National Visually Impaired Classifier since 2008 and actively involved in Visually Impaired Sports Classification at the national and the ASEAN levels such as The ASEAN Para Games in Singapore, Solo, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan and other countries. He is a Clinical Director of Opening Eyes for Special Olympics Asia Pacific since 2018 and also a Founding Fellow of the Pertubuhan Akademi Optometri Malaysia (PAOM) since 2019. His research focuses on low vision rehabilitation, quality of life, visual impairment and Public Health Optometry. His interests ranging from rehabilitation and psychosocial impact of low vision patients to public health optometry especially in prevention of visual impairment as well as vision and road safety.
