   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Dr. Ekram Alias is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry of Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He is presently Faculty Coordinator of Entrepreneurship. Dr Ekram graduated in Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Biochemistry and Immunology) from The University of Adelaide in 2006 before pursuing study in Bachelor of Health Sciences (Hons.) in Pathology in the same university in 2007. Conferred with First Class Honours degree, he then pursued his postgraduate study in PhD in Bone Pathology from the School of Medical Sciences in The University of Adelaide in 2008. Dr Ekram was previously a tutor in the Department of Biochemistry Faculty of Medicine UKM since May 2008 before he was appointed to the current position in November 2014. Since his appointment as a permanent lecturer, he is actively engaged teaching of pre-clinical modules in the undergraduate medical program in UKM. He is also Head of Module for Cellular Biomolecules since 2017 and Faculty Coordinator for Module Fundamental in Entrepreneurship. His research interests include cellular aspects of bone pathologies such as osteoporosis, peri-implant osteolysis and fracture healing in diabetes, besides in antioxidants (vitamin E in particular) research and nano-biomaterials for improved delivery of therapeutically compounds to the bone tissues. Since his appointment as lecturer, Dr. Ekram has secured a number of research grants both at the university and national levels, besides actively involved as co-researcher in an international grant funded project. He has also produced quite a number of articles in high-impact publications.
