I serve as a General Surgeon and Lecturer at the teaching hospital of the National University of Malaysia (UKM), where I seamlessly integrate my clinical expertise and academic enthusiasm to provide top-notch healthcare and education. My responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including conducting diverse open and laparoscopic surgeries, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures with OGDS and Colonoscopy, and actively participating in both clinical and administrative work.
Additionally, I oversee Specialist out-patient clinics, manage endoscopic services, lead ward rounds, and attend to in-patient care, while also fulfilling the role of Surgeon On-call/Incharge as per the schedule. I hold multiple roles within the Clinical service, aiming to uphold effective clinical governance and contribute to audits for continuous improvement.
Apart from my clinical duties, I take pleasure in educating and guiding the cohort of postgraduate surgical residents and undergraduate medical students. I consistently engage in bedside teaching sessions, create and review examination questions, coordinate internal and national professional exams, and organize surgical workshops and seminars. In my capacity as a Faculty of Medicine member, I have received acknowledgment from both the department and faculty for my roles as an Undergraduate and Postgraduate supervisor and examiner.
As a Surgeon-Scientist, I actively participate in research and the publication of works pertaining to my area of focus, encompassing General & Colorectal Surgery. In preparation for forthcoming research endeavors and potential breakthroughs, I consistently procure tumor tissues for storage in the Biobank.
