Dr Asma Ashari (BDS Adel, MClinDent Lon, MOrth RCS Ed, FRCS Ed) is a Specialist Orthodontist and Clinical Lecturer at the Dental Faculty in University Kebangsaan Malaysia. She also serves a private visiting specialist at Dental Avenue Klinik Pergigian & Pakar Ortodontik, Putra Heights and Twin Towers Medical Centre, KLCC. As an orthodontist, Dr Asma has dedicated herself to the field of specialty dealing with irregularities in the teeth and jaws, and has been involved in the specialty since 2014. Her main interests are aesthetic ceramic braces and Invisalign. Dr Asma did her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the University of Adelaide, Australia. She worked in the Ministry of Health for a few years before she underwent specialist training in the Royal London Hospital (Queen Mary University of London). She has passed her Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and was awarded the Robert Lee Award by the Royal London Hospital Alumni. The award was used in an elective at Harvard`s Advanced Graduate Orthodontic Program in Boston, USA. Later on, she was awarded the Dental Clinical and Education Experience Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in orthognathic and hypodontia attachment. In 2023, she was nominated and won the prestigious Roberto Justus "Rising Star" award by the World Federation of Orthodontist, for her groundbreaking research. She serves as an examiner for the Conjoint Membership of Orthodontics of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics in UKM. Within UKM, she is involved in various research collaborations with the Ministry of Health, UiTM, UM as well as within the industry, amassing published research papers in leading journals. Her expertise garners invitations as a reviewer for high-impact journals and a speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Asma Ashari remains a recipient of numerous prestigious research grants, a testament to her ongoing commitment to advancing orthodontic practice.
