Biografi/ Biography :
Shamin is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM, affiliated with the Centre for Quality Management of Medicines. He earned his BPharm from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2009, and practiced as a pharmacist for three years.
In 2013, he completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy, followed by a Ph.D. in 2018 at the University of Otago, focusing on clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics of oral anticoagulants.
Since 2018, Shamin has been serving as a senior lecturer, concentrating his research on clinical pharmacology & pharmacometrics and evidence synthesis in medicine.
His research involves developing bioanalytical drug assays using HPLC, along with computational modeling and simulation of pharmacokinetics and pharmacometrics models. Software tools used are MATLAB, R, NONMEM, Monolix, and Jamovi.
Dedicated to improving treatment through scientific evidence, Shamin has actively participated in evidence-based pharmacotherapies research, with more than 10 publications using systematic review and meta-analyses methodologies. His current research spans anticoagulants (warfarin and NOACs), immunoglobulin G, asparaginase, methotrexate, and vitamin D. Recently he developed an interest in researching the use of Machine Learning to improve medication use.
In addition to his academic role, Shamin continues to practice as a community pharmacist, bridging the gap between academia and practical experience.
