Dr. Ahmad Bazli Ramzi received his Bachelor and PhD degrees from University of Malaya (Malaysia) and Korea University (South Korea), respectively, with major in Biotechnology. He assumed post-doctoral fellow position and currently, works as a research fellow at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia. His present research aims at advancing metabolic engineering, systems biology, synthetic and engineering biology approaches using microbial platforms for bioproducts development. He is actively working with national and international institutions for promoting microbial synthetic and engineering biology research through various R&D platforms. He is the principal investigator for several research projects awarded by UKM, national agencies and industry including Yayasan Penyelidikan Antartika Sultan Mizan (YPASM) and PETRONAS. Dr. Bazli has established international partnerships with synthetic biology centres in the United Kingdom (UK), specifically at the University of Manchester (SYNBIOCHEM, UoM) and the University of Nottingham (SBRC Nottingham, UoN). He is a representative member of the Asian Synthetic Biology Association (ASBA) and the manager/coordinator of the UKM Biofoundry facility, which is an active member of the Global Biofoundry Alliance (GBA).
