   Biografi/ Biography :


  • Hazim Syahmi bin Elias holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc. Hons) in Oleochemistry from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) in Chemistry from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He began his professional career as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) officer at CP Group Sdn. Bhd., where he received extensive on-site training in Johor, Port Klang, and Thailand. He later transitioned into the role of a chemist within the same company, specializing in analytical skills such as method development, validation, characterization, and troubleshooting. Subsequently, he joined Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as a Science Officer, taking charge of the metabolomics laboratory and serving as the Technical Manager for MS ISO 17025: 2017 accreditation. In this role, he managed and operated analytical instruments, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (GCMS), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (LCMS). His research primarily focuses on natural products chemistry, particularly the exploration of the potential benefits of local herbal plants in Malaysia. He is also a qualified and appointed Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA) Assessor under the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH), a Registered Chemist (ChM.) with the Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM), and a Registered Technologist (Ts.) with the Malaysian Board of Technologies (MBOT).
