   Biografi/ Biography :


  • Dr Nisha T. Govender earned her first degree in Biology (Genetics) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2008. She completed a Master of Management of Plant Genetic Resources (coursework) from the same university and graduated in 2010. In 2011, she pursued a PhD in Plant Biotechnology and graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2016. She then, served as a postdoctoral research fellow in different public universities in Klang valley (UKM, Universiti Malaya and UPM) prior to her present appointment as a research fellow at Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), UKM. Her research interest includes crop improvement (oil palm, Jatropha, rice, jackfruit), disease management and soil fertility enhancement. In addition, she is also venturing into nutritive metabolite-enriched herbaceous plant species for functional food development. Her research activities are virtually multi-disciplinary encompassing computational biology and bioinformatics, molecular biology, material science, plant pathology and statistical analysis. She sits as an active reviewer for the following journals: Scientific Reports, Biotechnology for Biofuel, Genomics Data, Journal of Oil Palm Research (MPOB) and Tropical Life Sciences Research (USM).
