Biografi/ Biography :
Dr Shirley Tang Gee Hoon is a senior lecturer in Biomedical Science from Center for Toxicology and Health Risk Research (CORE), Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained her Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) and Master in Health Science (Biomedical Science, major in Microbiology) from UKM, and PhD in Applied Microbiology from the Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her research interests lie in the area of infectious diseases including medical microbiology, parasitology and entomology. She was the recipient of Tanjong Scholarship Award (Tanjong PLC) and MyPhD scholarship (Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia). She also received several awards, including, UKM Book Award 2009, Student Personage Award 2009, Young Investigator Award 2010, Yakult Young Scientist Travel Grant 2015. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, and awarded best poster and oral presenters. She serves as a principal investigator, co-investigator, and supervisor for postgraduate students involved in a variety of government, industry and international projects related to essential oil, green nanoparticles and nanoemulsions as antimicrobial and anti-larvicidal, microalgae, gut-microbiome, multidrug resistance, deep learning algorithm for early detection of poultry infection and AI framework for threat assessment and containment for COVID-19. She has published more than 30 reviews/research articles in WOS (Q1-Q2) and Scopus indexed journals as the main or co-author.
