Ricky Anak Kemarau has attained a Bachelor of Social Science degree with honours in Geography from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. He advanced his education by earning a Master of Science in Remote Sensing from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and a Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Science with the Graduated On Time Award from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Ricky has published a number of books and articles on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing applications, demonstrating his enthusiasm for learning and research.
Ricky, acknowledged as a Geospatial (Gs) specialist by the Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM), has research interests that span physical geography, remote sensing, spatial analysis, temporal analysis, climate change, and geographic information systems.
Prior to his present position at the Institute of Climate Change, Ricky employed sophisticated LIDAR technology for three-dimensional scanning and structural modelling inside the oil and gas industry. He has over 13 years of experience in non-destructive testing (NDT) and radiation protection, demonstrating significant practical expertise and proficiency in these fields.
Ricky`s passion for teamwork is particularly apparent in the areas of climate change, the socioeconomic effects of environmental changes, climatology studies, remote sensing, and GIS applications. He is sincerely interested in using GIS and remote sensing methods to investigate how many facets of society and the economy are impacted by climate change.
