Dr Yang Wai Wai began her clinical psychology training in the Department of Paediatrics and later Department of Psychiatry at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) in 2003 before joining as a lecturer in 2006. She holds a BSc in Human Development and Master of Clinical Psychology from UPM and UKM respectively. Subsequently she completed her combined MPsych/PhD at University of Melbourne, Australia exploring the use of emotion-focused parenting for parents of children with chronic illness. While in Melbourne, she also trained at the Royal Children’s Hospital Psychology Department and Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Services as part of her Clinical Child Specialization.
Currently Dr Yang has a broad-based clinical practice in assessments and interventions for neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health problems, as well as health-related thinking, behaviours and emotions, in children and adolescents, as well as their parents. Besides providing her services to the Child Development Centre, she is also a member of the hospital’s multidisciplinary Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) team.
Dr Yang is a registered member of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology and an Associate Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association.
