   Biografi/ Biography :


  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Aizat completed his Bachelor (Hons) and PhD degrees at the University of Adelaide, Australia, specializing in the Biotechnology and Plant Science fields. He is a research fellow at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). His expertise is in quantitative/shotgun proteomics which utilizes advanced mass spectrometry technology and bioinformatics tools for large-scale protein studies. Using such analytical pipeline, he has profiled the protein composition of various organisms, ranging from plants, microorganisms, animals to humans. Furthermore, his laboratory utilizes multi-omic approaches to decipher intrinsic regulatory mechanisms in tropical plants, such as the Persicaria minor (kesum), Gynura procumbens (sambung nyawa) and mangosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana), upon various biotic and abiotic cues. Ultimately, this has significantly contributed to the systems biology understanding of these local plants and will be important for their future applications in pharmaceutical, medicinal, and agricultural fields. Dr. Aizat has been involved in more than RM3.1 million cumulative research grants, a quarter of which as the principal investigator. His group has filed various intellectual properties including three copyrights, two trademarks and one patent. To date, his laboratory has published more than 60 research articles in SCOPUS/WOS indexed journals, including more than half in Q1/Q2 journals. He was also appointed as a reviewer to more than 38 different journals/publishers and is currently served as the academic editor for a Q2 journal, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Journal. He also authored five books and chapter in books published by international publishers including Springer Nature and Elsevier. He is a former council member of the Asia Oceania Agricultural Proteomics Organization and the former President of Malaysian Proteomics Society (MAPS).
