   Biografi/ Biography :


  • Dr. Wan Mohd Aizat earned his BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees from the University of Adelaide, Australia, in the fields of Biotechnology and Plant Science. Presently, he holds the position of research fellow at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), UKM. His expertise lies in quantitative proteomics, leveraging advanced mass spectrometry technology and bioinformatics for large-scale protein studies. Additionally, his laboratory employs multi-omic approaches to unravel intrinsic regulatory mechanisms in tropical plants, such as Persicaria minor (kesum), Gynura procumbens (sambung nyawa), and Garcinia mangostana (mangosteen). These endeavors have significantly contributed to the understanding of the plant systems biology, paving the way for future applications in pharmaceutical and agricultural fields. To date, Dr. Aizat`s laboratory has published over 60 research articles in SCOPUS/WOS indexed journals, with more than half featured in Q1/Q2 journals. He serves as a reviewer for over 38 different journals/publishers and has authored five books/chapters published by international publishers, including Springer Nature and Elsevier. Dr. Aizat has secured more than RM3.1 million in cumulative research grants and has filed three copyrights, two trademarks, and two patents. His research group has received numerous accolades, including Gold medals at kNovasi, PECIPTA, ITEX, and SIRIM Innovation Expo. Dr. Aizat`s individual achievements include the 2014 Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence, the 2018 and 2022 Excellence Service Award, the 2019 MyRA UKM Excellence Award (Publication), and the 2020 MOSTI’s National Young Scientist Award (Life Science). Formerly, Dr. Aizat served as the President of the Malaysian Proteomics Society (MAPS) and as the Deputy Director (Infrastructure & Instrumentation) of the Centre for Research and Instrumentation Management (CRIM), UKM. Currently, he holds the position of Director for the Centre for Natural and Physical Laboratory Management UKM (ALAF-UKM).
