Dr. Rizal is a Professor in Taxation at Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Graduated from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, Doctor of Philosophy (Accounting and Taxation). He is currently lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students in Accounting and Taxation at the School of Accounting, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He joined UKM since 1998. He holds the position of Professor at this institution and former Head of Accounting Programme .
He is an active researcher and managed to secure several research grants since 2003 such as LRGS,FRGS, ERGS and other research grants offered by Ministry of Higher Education. He is the recipient of several awards such as the ‘Excellent Service Awards`, ‘Faculty Award for Research` and ‘Highly Commended Award`. He has graduated 20 PhD students, among which two students received the `Best Student Award` for the quality of his thesis. He is now currently supervising 6 PhD students and several master students.
Dr. Rizal has published five books. Among them were published by Oxford Press and Pearson-Prentice Hall. He has also published nearly 90 research articles in various international refereed journals.
He has also taught various courses particularly for public servant from Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Works, National Audit Department as well as Malaysian Institute of Accounting. His research interest is public finance, fiscal policy and tax administration internationally.
