  •    Biografi/ Biography :

  • Azlina Abdul Aziz first joined UKM in 2008 and is a senior lecturer in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) program at the Center of Innovative Studies in Learning and Teaching, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She received her Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Chichester Institute, UK in 1997 and her Master`s in Art degree in English Linguistics from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UKM. She has an Ed.D in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University, U.S.A. Her research interests are in the Teaching and Learning of Literature and Teacher Education in TESL. She is interested in how literary texts and personal narrative may be utilised to help students to examine social, cultural and political issues in a particular context. The literature courses she teaches are `Teaching of Literature: Reading the word and the world`, `Drama in Action`, `Creative Writing`, and `Literary Production in a Digital Age’. She has received numerous teaching innovation awards nationally and internationally, such as the Silver Award at the International Innovation in Teaching and Learning 2021 (i-InTeL) on her teaching innovation `Personal Narrative as a Decolonising Pedagogical Tool` and a Gold Award for MELTA`s Creative Student Teacher Showcase 2022 on `Digital Story as an anti-racist pedagogical tool`. Furthermore, she has received a few awards from UKM for student supervision and publication categories, getting the Certificate of Appreciation Malaysia Research Assessment MyRA® for Excellence in Supervision for the Evaluation Year 2019 and 2020 and ultimately receiving the Excellence Award in Publication for Malaysia Research Assessment MyRA® for the Evaluation Year 2020.
