   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Prof Madya Dr Shahlan Surat adalah Pensyarah Kanan Bidang Psikologi Pendidikan di Pusat Inovasi Pengajaran & Pembelajaran, Fakulti Pendidikan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) sejak 16 April 2014. Beliau menamatkan pengajian di peringkat Sijil Perguruan Malaysia (Pendidikan Matematik) dari Institut Perguruan Sultan Idris pada tahun 1993. Memperoleh Ijazah Pendidikan (Bimbingan & Kaunseling) pada tahun 2000 dari Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) dan Master Sains dari universiti yang sama pada tahun 2003. Beliau memperoleh ijazah Doktor Falsafah dalam bidang Psikologi Pendidikan dari UKM pada tahun 2012. Seorang kaunselor berdaftar dengan Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM) dan sebagai ahli International Association of Neuroscience (IAN) Membership ID No. PMMA5000115 bermula pada 10 Januari 2020 hingga kini. Beliau juga dilantik sebagai Ahli Persatuan Taekwondo Malaysia (WTF) dan Kukkiwon Teakwondo Association Korea No. Pendaftaran 05114589.
    Senior lecturer and currently serving as a member of Research Center of Teaching and Learning, Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Previously I was appointed as a Alumni, Industry and Networking Coordinator (1 March 2018 until 31 October 2019) and the Head of Industry & Community Partnership (HEJIM) of the Faculty from 1st November 2019 until 30th October 2022, and as a Head of Educational Psychology Program Coordinator Faculty of Education from 1st January 2019 until now. I obtained my PhD in Educational Psychology in 2012 from UKM, and Master in Educational Administration from UPM. My first degrees were in the field of Education (Guidance and Counseling) from University Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Diploma in Education from Sultan Idris Teacher Institute (SITC) Tanjong Malim in 1993. Having vast working experience from 1993 to 2007 as a teacher in primary school in Kuala Lumpur and two (2) secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur and as a lecturer in Malay Language Teacher Institute (IPBMM) Ministry of Education (MoE) from 2007 to 2012. These experiences are pivotal to my professional development and help me to successfully succeed in research university like UKM. My professional experiences have shaped my research expertise in the field of educational psychology, advance teaching and learning psychology, mental health theory, thinking skill psychology, educational issues in Malaysia, research methodology, teacher’s professionalism, and academic writing.
